WHAT TO EXPECT

We want you to feel right at home. We have a mix of contemporary, and traditional worship songs.

Our pastor has a practical approach to preaching that can be applied to everyday life. We are a casual church with a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

What We Believe

WHAT WE BELIEVE

GOD

We believe in the one ever-living, eternal God who reveals Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. We worship a triune God—one in essence but revealed in three Persons.

JESUS CHRIST

We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God born of a virgin.  He lived a sinless life, was crucified on Calvary for our sins, and rose from the grave triumphant over death.  We believe that through His death and resurrected life we have personal salvation and power for victorious living through the ever-present Holy Spirit.

HOLY SPIRIT

We believe the Holy Spirit is God and indwells the life of every believer.  The Spirit gives life and produces fruit (love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, etc.).  The Spirit also enriches us with gifts of ministry and service to each member of Christ’s body, the church.

THE BIBLE

We believe the Bible is the inspired Word of God, a divine revelation from God to people.  We accept the Scriptures as the final authority in all matters of faith and conduct.

SALVATION

We believe that all people have sinned and stand in need of redemption, which is obtained through the new birth by faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and what He accomplished for us through His death and resurrection.  We receive by God’s grace, through faith and repentance, that which we could never earn, becoming children of God.

BAPTISM AND COMMUNION

We practice water baptism by immersion after professing faith in Christ as Lord.  Baptism is commanded in God’s Word as an act of obedience and demonstrating the believer’s commitment to follow Christ in a new way of life.  We gather around the Lord’s Table each week and partake of the bread and cup.  This special meal is open to all who are followers of Jesus.

THE CHURCH

In the pages of the New Testament, the church is called a Family—demonstrating loving care for one another; a Temple—where the Holy Spirit resides and empowers; a Body—where each part has a significant role to play in serving each other and the world.  We long to fulfill this vision, and invite you to be part of what God is doing here at Hill Country Christian Church.

OUR CHURCH

Our Church

In 1995, a Project Advisory Committee was formed to establish a new Disciples of Christ church in Texas and chose the area of Bulverde/Spring Branch in Comal County, Texas, which became Hill Country Christian Church (HCCC). Having the foresight to see Bulverde/Spring Branch potentially would become the next major area of growth in and around San Antonio, they absolutely were correct.

Today, Comal County is purported to be the 2nd fastest growing county in the USA. This area is booming with both commercial and residential building. HCCC is located at the intersection of two major highways in Comal County in the gorgeous south-central Texas Hill Country. The SH-46 / US-281 intersection is centrally-located 20 miles west of New Braunfels on IH-35, 20 miles east of Boerne on IH-10, and 20 miles north of San Antonio and its conveniently situated northside international airport. The HCCC church building, completed and dedicated in August 2001, stands on its own beautiful park-like 6.3 acre property and currently averages 55-65 Sunday worship service attendees each week; we certainly are poised to grow with Comal County into a larger membership level. HCCC also is adjacent to one of the three largest and most customer-visited businesses at this SH-46 / US-281 interchange, an HEB-Plus grocery; a Super Walmart and a Home Depot are the other two large businesses which stand within a one mile radius of HCCC. HCCC, in fact, shares its driveway with this Super HEB grocery store; so, many potential congregants daily view our church-messaging sign.

The school system is excellent, and very near HCCC are two elementary and one middle schools. With its attractive cost-of-living, and the fact that Texas has no state income tax, the scenic Texas Hill Country, with its gentle, forested rolling hills, many creeks, rivers, and lakes, is an attractive destination for both Texans and the USA population. Located in Comal County is the largest lake in Texas, Canyon Lake and the Guadalupe River; purported to be the most recreationally-used river in the USA. New Braunfels, the county seat of Comal County, is considered the water-sports capital of Texas with its spring-fed, year-round, 76 degree Comal River, a popular site for tubing. In terms of Christian harvest, this area is ripe with opportunity.
